Detecting Influenza A (H1N1) pdm09 Virus Infection Using Immunochromatographic Assay

چکیده
The recent paper entitled “Development of a specific and rapid diagnostic method for detecting influenza A (H1N1) pdm09 virus infection using immunochromatographic assay” by Ji et al [1] is very interesting. Ji et al [1] concluded that “the proposed method can be easily used for rapid and specific detection of the pdm09 infection.” To develop a new diagnostic test for detecting influenza A (H1N1) pdm09 virus infection would be useful. The problem with the present technique is the low sensitivity. Although it has 100% specificity, the test cannot be used as a good screening tool due to poor sensitivity [2]. A rapid test for detecting influenza A (H1N1) pdm09 virus should help screen suspected cases of the disease. The cost of the new test

Development of a Specific and Rapid Diagnostic Method for Detecting Influenza A (H1N1) pdm09 Virus Infection Using Immunochromatographic Assay
OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to develop an immunochromatographic assay (ICA) for the detection of influenza A (H1N1) pdm09 virus infection. MATERIALS AND METHODS Several monoclonal antibodies against influenza A (H1N1) pdm09 virus were generated and an ICA (pdm09-ICA) was developed for the rapid and specific detection of influenza A (H1N1) pdm09 virus infection. The specificity and se...
متن کاملAntigenic Variation of the Haemagglutinin Gene of the Influenza A (H1N1) pdm09 Virus Circulating in Shiraz, February-April 2013
Background: A new pandemic influenza A (H1N1) emerged in April 2009, causing considerable morbidity and mortality. Since mutations in the haemagglutinin (HA) may influence the antigenicity and pathogenicity of the virus, continued epidemiological and molecular characterization for the effective control of pandemic flu and developing of more appropriate vaccine is crucial. Objective: To monitor ...
متن کاملRelationships between A(H1N1)pdm09 influenza infection and infections with other respiratory viruses
BACKGROUND A(H1N1)pdm09, a new influenza pandemic virus emerged in 2009. The A(H1N1)pdm09 infection had several unique characteristics which included rapid transmissibility and high morbidity in obese individuals, pregnant women and individuals suffering from chronic diseases. OBJECTIVES To study the relationships between A(H1N1)pdm09 influenza infection and infections with other respiratory ...
متن کاملEvidence for subclinical influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 virus infection among dogs in Guangdong Province, China.
During 2012, we identified sampled dogs with elevated levels of antibodies (≥1:40) against A(H1N1)pdm09 virus by using a hemagglutination inhibition (HI) assay (seroprevalence, 24.7%) and a microneutralization (MN) assay (seroprevalence, 10.8%). These high seroprevalences of A(H1N1)pdm09 among dogs without clinical signs of influenza support the premise that dogs may play a role in the human in...
متن کاملDistinct patterns of B-cell activation and priming by natural influenza virus infection versus inactivated influenza vaccination.
BACKGROUND The human B-cell response to natural influenza virus infection has not been extensively investigated at the polyclonal level. METHODS The overall B-cell response of patients acutely infected with the 2009 pandemic influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 virus (A[H1N1]pdm09) was analyzed by determining the reactivity of plasmablast-derived polyclonal antibodies (PPAbs) to influenza proteins. Recipie...
